Is Desperate Housewives Sex in the Suburbs?

So, it is half ten and Channel 4 has just started the new Desperate Housewives series.
Am I the only person that fails to see any difference between that and Sex and the City?
I for one will not be watching the new series. It is so bad it's untrue. Now I am sure I will get loads of responses saying how good it is. My Sister-in-law watches it, she is French!
Just let me know what it is I am supposed to watch.
